Africa is a land of contrasts where the driest deserts meet the wettest jungles, vast open plains are dotted with flat-topped acacia trees, thorn bushes and bottle-shaped baobab trees. On the rarified slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Kenya, bamboo forests sprout and even higher up is the unusual groundsel tree, with its huge cabbage-like flowers, and giant lobelias with long spikes. These great safari lands abound with a huge variety and abundance of game including zebra, elephant, giraffe, antelope, cheetah, leopard and lions.
